Hugo De Blauwe
Hugo is a passionate aviator - loving everything that flies - and a proven entrepreneur with solid business acumen.
After completing his engineering studies (magna cum laude) at the KULeuven, Hugo obtained the BAEF scholarship to pursue a Master in Aerospace engineering and do NASA funded research in drone control systems at the Georgia Institute of Technology (USA). Hugo also worked for Aurea Imaging (insights for agriculture based on drone data) and PrivateFly (online booking system for private jet charters). Hugo obtained an American & European Private Pilot License, has a frozen ATPL and holds an Instrument Rating.
Hugo started his professional career as a management consultant at McKinsey&Company. Initially he covered strategic and operational projects in industries such as telecom, utilities, insurance and energy efficiency. After his MBA, he specialized in the aerospace sector and drones. Hugo holds an MBA from London Business School.
After McKinsey hours, Hugo co-founded Humasol, a non-profit organization making renewable energy accessible for everybody in emerging markets. So far, Humasol has sent 150 students to work on 60 projects. Hugo was also a founding vice-president of a fraternity at Georgia Tech.
Pierre was flying gliders solo before he could drive and combines his aerospace engineering knowledge with solid business experience.
Pierre holds an MSc in Aerospace Engineering from TU Delft. During his studies he performed research with the first iPhone operated drone and wrote a journal article on planning strategies for drones, both at MIT in Massachusetts, USA. He has been flying gliders since the age of 15 and has logged more than 120 flying hours on more than 10 airplanes.
He obtained a Master in General Management (magna cum laude) from Vlerick Business School. After a Global Management Traineeship at AB InBev, he worked in Sales, Finance and Marketing.
When he was 15, Pierre made his first paid website and founded a small web hosting company. As a board member of the Students Organisation ‘Leonardo da Vinci’, he managed 40 students in organizing lectures and excursions. He also worked on the development of a water cleaning technology company, a personalized skin care start-up and a watch start-up.
